I am happy to help you in determining which Thule roof cargo basket is best for your lifestyle and your 2007 Toyota 4Runner!

The most important questions when comparing these 2 options is how much space do you plan on needing and will the larger basket stick out in front or behind your 4Runner? The smaller basket, part # TH859XT, measures 49" x 40" x 6" while the larger basket, part # 59504-EXT, has the same width and depth measurements and is just 20 inches longer at 69" long.

The other thing to consider is the weight of each basket, the weight capacity of each basket, and what the weight ratings are of both your roof rack and the actual roof of your 4Runner. The smaller basket weighs 29 lbs and has a 150 lb weight capacity while the larger basket weighs 39 lbs and has the same 150 lb weight capacity. Be sure to account for the weight ratings of all of these components when deciding on what you will be carrying.

Finally if you don't have a roof rack then I recommend using the Rhino-Rack roof rack which consists of the 49" Vortex Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 and the SX Series Legs # RRSX100.

If you are still a bit unsure then I recommend going with the smaller basket and seeing how you like it. If you would like for it to be a bit longer then you can purchase the extension separately as part # TH8591XT at a later date.
