You will need harness # C59496 to wire your 2007 Volkswagen Passat for towing. Your vehicle has a multiplexed system which requires alternative wiring of this kit.
You will need to find the wiring plugged into the back of the taillights. On the driver's side use a test light, item # PTW2993 if needed, and find the wire that has tail, brake and turn functions. Connect the yellow wire from the converter box to this wire. Next find the 12-volt taillight wire and connect the brown wire to this wire. Route the green wire to the passenger's side and find the multiple function wire again and connect the green wire to it. Connect the red brake wire to the ground wire and secure them to a good clean ground point. Finally run the battery wire to the vehicle battery through a 10-amp inline fuse.
