Can a 2017 Acura MDX or 2019 Honda Passport Tow a 2009 Jayco Jay Feather 19H
Question:
Hi, I have a2009 Jayco Jayfeather 19H. I am in the market do a new tow vehicle. I’m looking at a 2017 Acura MDX AWD and a 2019 Honda Passport AWD. Both are Honda products and are similarly equipped engine and power train. Would one make a better tow vehicle? Should I be concerned that either would be a poor or inadequate choice? Thanks for your imput.

According to my research, the most well equipped 2017 Acura MDX (AWD with ATF Cooler) has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs and the most well equipped 2019 Honda Passport (AWD with ATF Cooler) has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. The 2009 Jayco Jay Feather 19H that you are looking at has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 4,950 lbs therefore either vehicle will able to safely pull it. Unfortunately, I don't have any recommendations for you as it really just comes down to preference.
In order to tow the Jay Feather 19H with either vehicle you are going to need a trailer hitch, trailer wiring harness, brake controller, and ball mount/hitch ball. I have attached my recommendations for each vehicle below.
2017 Acura MDX:
Trailer Hitch - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98840
Wiring Harness - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118628
Brake Controller - Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180
Ball Mount/Hitch Ball - B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount part # BWTS10033B
2019 Honda Passport:
Trailer Hitch - etrailer # e44AR
Wiring Harness - Tekonsha # 119190KIT
Brake Controller - Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180
Ball Mount/Hitch Ball - B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount part # BWTS10033B
