Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2013 Ram 3500 with 6-1/2 Foot Bed
Question:
I have a 2013 ram 3500 mega cab. My camper is a grand design solitude 102inch wide I need a 5th wheel hitch. We only move it twice a season. I really would not like to spend $2000 for a hitch. Some say a Anderson ultimate will work and some say I must use a slider. I will never be turning 90 degrees ect but will be doing normal driving. Whats my best route. ...thanks

On your 2013 Ram 3500 with 6-1/2 foot bed, a sliding hitch is the route to go for even normal driving. Its the little things like maneuvering around the fuel pump that change things and will make it a game changer for you.
Since you are looking for something nice yet economical, I recommend the Reese Custom fit rail kit # RP50054-58 and the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider -16,000 lbs # RP30051. You just want to make sure your trailer GVWR doesn't exceed that 16K capacity.
If you have the factory underbed rails, then I recommend the same hitch with the rail adapter # RP30154. I've attached some videos to assist. You may also want to consider the wiring for a 7-way connection in the bed of your truck using # A10-7007. This is a really nice convenience even if you are only using it a couple times a year.
