Recommended Weight Detection System for a ATC Raven Cargo Trailer

Question:

I have the older stirrup style dual cam sway control that uses U bolts to attach to the tongue on the trailer. Im leaning towards a ATC aluminum trailer and it has a 8inch deep tongue. The older trailer had a 6. Do they make longer ubolts or am I going to have to buy another hitch? ATC does not recommend using a WD hitch wothout proper reinforcement and I would think drilling into it is a big no no.........24foot trailer.......

I do have an option for you but there is not a longer version of the Replacement Square U-bolts for 26000 Dual Cam Sway Control part # 58000 available. However, this is more or less irrelevant as you cannot use the Reese Dual Cam Weight Distribution System on an aluminum frame trailer like your ATC Raven Cargo Trailer because it creates too much stress for the frame to handle.

The other issues you will have is that the Reese Dual Cam Weight Distribution System will require that you have space available on the frame rail 30" from the hitch ball. I took a look at the ATC Raven Cargo Trailer and they all have a relatively short tongue therefore you may need to consider a short arm system like the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System part # C17322 which only needs space available on the frame rail around 28" from the hitch ball. I spoke with Curt and they said you could use the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System on an aluminum frame trailer.

If you can provide me with your total tongue weight (loaded trailer + cargo behind rear axle of tow vehicle) I would be happy to recommend an exact system for you.
