There is a great option to tow a fifth wheel trailer with your 2017 Ram 1500, and I highly recommend the Curt A20 because it is extremely reliable and easy to use.

The correct hitch will depend on if you have a short bed or a long bed; if your '17 Ram 1500 has a 6-1/2 foot bed you will need a sliding hitch, the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R20 Slider # C16541 or if you have a long bed you will need a fixed hitch, the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16140.

The A20 has an interlocking dual jaw system that wraps completely around your king pin which gives you a totally secure connection. It also has a handy indicator system which will let you know if the jaws on the hitch are ready to couple, uncouple or tow. This color-coded system, makes the process of hooking up or disconnecting your trailer much simpler. I have added a photo which shows this system so you can see where the system is located as well as what the indicator system displays.

Both Curt A20 fifth wheel hitches, the sliding # C16541 and fixed # C16140 have fully articulating heads which, together with the indicator system, further ease the coupling process. The hitches even have built in zerk fittings so you can add lubricant without issue. The A20 has a 20,000 lb towing capacity and also comes with a lifetime warranty.

To install this in your truck you will need to add base rails which are installed in your 2017 Ram 1500 with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16444-204. This bracket and rail kit is a fit for either a 6-1/2 foot or 8 foot bed on a '17 Ram 1500.

I have added a link to video reviews of both hitches and the installation kit, as well as a link to a video of the rails being installed on a Ram 1500.
