The Demco 18k Fifth Wheel hitch part # DM8550034 fits your 2018 GMC Sierra 2500. As long as your trailer weighs less than 18,000 lbs fully loaded, the Demco 18k is a great choice for your short bed truck because of its automatic sliding feature. The rails that hold the hitch into the bed of the truck are different depending on if the Sierra has an OEM towing package or not.
If the Sierra does not have an OEM prep package the rails are part # DM8552011-71. These rails come with custom brackets that mount to the existing holes in the frame of the Sierra, so there is no drilling required. I have attached a video of the Demco hitch and rails being installed on a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500.
You may also need the fifth wheel wiring in the bed if the Sierra does not have an OEM prep package. The wiring plugs into the existing 7-way on the bumper of the truck and the new 7-way plug installs into the truck bed. This will make hooking up the trailer easier and more convenient because the 7-way plug is right inside the bed next to the hitch. I recommend Bargman part # 50-97-410 because it is easier to install. The 7-way plug is at a 90 degree so it's easier to fit the plug into the side of the truck bed. I have attached a video of the installation of the fifth wheel wiring on a 2016 GMC Sierra 3500.
If the Sierra does have an OEM prep package the Demco part # DM8550034 uses an adapter part # DM6194 that sits in the factory pucks in the bed. The Demco attaches to the adapter just like it would the mounting rails without any drilling required.
