Bike Rack Recommendation for 2019 Chevy Impala with Best Ground Clearance
Question:
Good Afternoon, I have a 2019 Chevy Impala LT and would like to see which trailer hitch will work best. Several reviewers said that the Curt hitch sat too close to the ground, which did not give enough ground clearance going over speed bumps or steep parking lots. Can you recommend an option that will allow the hitch to mount up high and possibly hidden as much as possible? I am only using the hitch to mount a bike rack. Thank you!

I think I have a better solution for you, but all of the trailer hitches for your 2019 Chevy Impala are going to sit lower to the ground and about the same height. The Curt # C12115 and the Draw Tite part # 36538 both are going to be right at 10 inches from the ground. Since you want to carry a bike rack a trunk mounted bike rack would be your best option to allow to carry bikes and not have ground clearance issues.
For that I recommend the Yakima Fullback part # Y02634 which is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. I recommend it because it's very easy to install, has a wide mounting pad to spread out the weight of the bikes and rack, is lightweight and includes locks for the rack and for the bikes. I attached a review video for this rack on a similar 2016 Impala for you to check out as well.
If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
