How to Connect 7-Way Connector on 2012 Volvo C30 with 4-Way Flat Connector on Trailer
Question:
I have a 2012 Volvo C30 with a volvo hitch and trailer wiring that has a thirteen pin receiver. My little tear trailer has a four flat connector. I cant find an adapter anywhere. I was able to find adapters that go from thirteen round to seven round, but Id love to avoid rewiring the trailer if possible. Any ideas?

I spoke with my contact at Hopkins who said that technically the Adapter 7 Pole to 4 Pole # 47345 would work in-line with your 13-Pin to 7-Pole connector so that is an option, but if you plan on towing your trailer more than just a few times there are a few other options for you that would be better.
The first option is to install a 4-Way Flat connector on your 2012 Volvo C30. For that you would need the Curt part # C59236. This splices into your tail light wiring and receives power via your battery. This eliminates the possibility of any malfunctions with your trailer wiring transitioning over to your vehicle.
The second option is to install a 7-Way connector on your trailer. If you decide to go this route then I recommend going with the # HS381-9000 because it has a junction box which makes routing your wiring easy.
