Recommendation for Adding 7-Way and Brake Controller to 2016 Ford F-150
Question:
adding 7 pin connector and brake controller My F150 did not have a factory tow package and I have installed the hitch and four way flat for the quads and the boat. Now its time for the RV and I need to upgrade to 7 PIN. I understand the flashing the truck part either by dealer or my own OBD thingy. Question is, does the info display monitor the brake controller once its flashed and will it require OEM or will it provide info on any brake controller at the display?

Since your truck didn't come with the factory 7-way, I recommend using the 7-way adapter and wiring kit # ETBC7 to add the functions needed. It is likely your truck has the wires for the power and brake controller run to the driver's side frame rail near the wheel well, so I recommend looking for a blue and red (or orange) wire. There should be these two wires present with the blue being the brake output and the red or orange wire being the 12 volt power. You will not need to do anything with the flashing of the computer and will have no dash information. The information for your brake controller will only be on the unit itself.
Then you can simply use wiring harness # 22292 to connect your brake controller under your dash and then you can use the Prodigy P2 # 90885 you asked this question from. You may want to consider the Prodigy P3 # 90195 for more diagnostic information available on the LCD screen and this controller uses the same harness as the P2. If you are interested in a different brake controller, then let me know and I'll make sure you get the correct wiring harness for that application. You still will use the # ETBC7 kit listed above for the wiring at the rear of the vehicle.
