How Much Can a 2014 Ford F-150 King Ranch with the 3.5L EcoBoost Tow

Question:

My wife and I are looking into buying a 2014 F-150 King Ranch with the 3.5 liter echo boost motor. My concern is the max towing capacity for this vehicle. I do know that it will have enough power and tow for our current trailer, but we are looking into purchasing a newer trailer weighing around 6,200 pounds. Any help is apperciated. Thanks

According to my research, the towing capacity of a 2014 Ford F-150 King Ranch with the 3.5L EcoBoost can vary from 7,500 lbs to 11,300 lbs depending on drive type, axle ratio, and gross combined weight rating. If you can provide me with this information I would be happy to provide you with an exact capacity. The axle ratio should be listed on a tag inside the glove box and the gross combined weight rating should be listed on a tag inside the driver door jamb but if not you can always call the dealer with your VIN and ask.

If your 2014 Ford F-150 did not come with a factory trailer hitch or you need to upgrade to a higher capacity then I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C14002 which has a class IV rating that is suitable for use up to 10,000 lbs or 12,000 lbs with a weight distribution system. If you will be towing towards the maximum capacity of your vehicle then you are also going to want to consider suspension enhancements as these will ensure you do not lose too much of the factory ride quality.
