How To Mount the Tekonsha Primus IQ on a 2013 GMC Sierra
Question:
Couple of questions installing this controller. My truck comes with installed 7 way connector already. Looking at the fuse box the right terminal already has the red wire connected. Am I only needing to install the red wire to the left terminal that comes from the right side of the fuse box? Any other wires I need to install/hookup under the hood? Also, when trying to understand installation locations, it says it has to be horizontal but is that with respects to the ground or just respects to looking at it face forward, ie does it basically need to be as parallel as possible to the floor of the truck or am I able to angle it up at all? Also, does it matter if I install to the left or the right of the steering wheel, ie is it better if closer to the center of the truck? ring terminal for the 12-volt power lead for the 7-way trailer connector

If your 2013 GMC Sierra comes with a factory 7-way trailer connector then the only connection you will need to make under the hood is for 12 volt power to the brake controller. This red wire is located directly to the right of the power distribution box and will attach to the left M6 stud with part # 185916 (see photo 1).
In regards to the orientation of the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160, the controller will need to be installed from 0 degrees to 90 degrees nose up in the direction of travel (see photo 2). This can be on either the left or right hand side of the steering wheel or the center of the truck.
