Best Weight Distribution System for 2016 Jayco 26BH Travel Trailer

Question:

I just bought a Jayco 26BH 2016 JAY FLIGHT travel trailer and plan to pull it with a 2017 Toyota Sequoia. The dry weight of the trailer is 4,700 lbs. and the tongue weight is 475 lbs. which puts me below the maximum 7,100 lb rating of the Sequoia and 710 lb. hitch weight. My question is which Equalizer Weight Distribution System would be best for this travel trailer to be safe when loaded for a trip? It is below the 6k version dry but I feel like I may be over that when loaded. I am picking it up before I can load it and weigh it so Id like to pick the right system to get before I go tow it home. It also looks like there are different versions which fit different trailer sizes so I wanted to double check that as well. Thanks for the help.

For the likely loaded tongue weight of your Jayco the system I recommend is the Equal-I-zer 4-Point # EQ37120ET which works for a range of TW from 800- to 1200-lbs. The similar system # EQ37060ET that you referenced is too light for this trailer.

Your Jayco 26BH has a GVWR of 7000-lbs so when fully loaded, meaning all your supplies and sporting gear in place and propane and water tanks full, you'll probably be close to 6000 to 6500-lbs. Be sure to also consider any cargo weight in the Sequoia that sits behind the rear axle, like a big cooler or generator, since that cargo will act like trailer tongue weight (TW) and it needs to be accounted for. It's pretty safe to figure your loaded TW will be in the neighborhood of 900 to 1000-lbs but you can measure with a scale # e99044 to be certain.

The Equal-i-zer systems are all-inclusive, even having a 2-5/16-inch hitch ball. All you might want to add is a thin-walled socket # ALL643216 which makes installing the hitch ball easier.

This Equal-I-zer system both levels the trailer and Sequoia and also works to prevent sway with its 4 friction points that hold the trailer steady behind you. Please refer to the linked article and videos for illustration of this system's features and operation.
