Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with D-Ring Bumper

Question:

I will be ordering a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and putting an aftermarket bumper on with the D-Rings. What all would I need to flat tow this?

For a complete flat towing setup on your 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter.

Since you are looking at installing an aftermarket bumper that utilizes D-Rings you will need the Adapters # RM-035 for 3/4" Thick or # RM-035-1 for 1" Thick D-Ring mounts. These install directly onto a Roadmaster tow bar and take the place of a base plate kit. Just be sure that the bumper you end up installing has been rated for flat towing.

Then for a tow bar I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain # RM-522 because of the non-binding design which makes hooking up your Jeep much easier. This has a 6,000 lb weight rating and combines great with the Safety Cables # RM-643 which have the same rating and a coiled design to keep them from dragging on the ground.

The wiring I recommend is the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 because it stays installed on your Jeep and easily connects to your RV via the 6-Way to 7-Way umbilical.

I personally think that the braking systems which install permanently give you an advantage over systems that you have to keep installing because you don't have to tote them around and they are easy to set up. If your motorhome has air brakes then you will need the Air Force One # SM99243 but if you have hydraulic brakes you need the Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 instead.

A lot of flat towing setups might require the use of a high-low adapter to keep the tow bar level while towing a vehicle. I have linked a helpful article for you to reference to see if this applies to you. If it does then I have also linked our selection of adapters for you to filter through.

I have attached some videos for you to reference but be sure to check your owner's manual for any special instructions when it comes to flat towing your vehicle.
