Thule 4 Bike Rack and Thule Tram Ski Carrier for 2019 ACURA MDX Hybrid Cargo Access

Question:

I am looking to carry skis with a hitch mount with a 2019 Acura MDX hybrid and a Thule Apex 4 seems like a good option. My question is: with the Skis mounted on a Thule Tram Hitch Ski Carrier, will I have access to the cargo? Would it be okay to tilt the rack with the Skis mounted? or would you recommend that I get the Apex swing version?

On your 2019 Acura MDX Hybrid, when using a hitch mounted bike rack like the Thule Apex with the Thule Tram Ski and Snowboard Carrier # TH9033 you will have basically the same clearances as you would with bikes, but that tilt feature is not intended for use with bikes or the adapter loaded. The Apex has just been redesigned and it will work well with this carrier.

It is possible to use the tilt on most racks with the adapter installed, but it isn't recommended or tested for that use. To ensure you have the clearance access and are operating within the warranty of the products, I recommend the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches - Swinging # TH9027XT. This combination will give you the cargo access you desire and the support needed for the ski carrier.
