Towing Capacity and Trailer Hitch Recommendation 2010 Ford Flex for Towing 2,000 lb Boat Trailer

2010 Ford Flex. 2000 pound total weight pontoon. 850 mile trip. SEL, AWD and 70000 miles on the Flex. Any advice?

I looked up the towing capacity of your 2010 Ford Flex and it has a capacity of 4,500 lbs total trailer weight which means you'd pretty easily be able to tow a 2,000 lb boat and trailer. You'll need a few things to do this safely. First is a hitch like the Draw Tite part # 75679 that you referenced. This has a 2 inch opening which means it will have plenty of capacity and is also the size that is most popular with hitch accessories. For trailer wiring you'd then want the T-One kit part # 118472. This kit installs without requiring any splicing. I attached an install video link for this for you to check out as well.

Since you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
