Wedge for Curt A16 Fifth Wheel Hitch and Lippert Turning Point Pin Box

Question:

I was told the Lippert universal wedge that came with the Grand Design trailer GVWR 10,200, would not provide a proper fit with the Curt A16 fifth wheel hitch head mounted on a Curt 5th roller mount. Instead, I would need a Curt wedge, part #16992. Is this correct? The trailer will be towed by a 2017 Ford F250 crew cab 4WD diesel with a 6.75foot bed and factory installed mounts. Also, did I really need a sliding hitch for this application? Thanks!

You are correct that the Wedge for Curt A Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C16992 will work with your Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # C16520-16020; it has been used by a number of our customers with a Turning Point and has worked perfectly.

As for using a sliding hitch in your 2017 Ford F-250 with the Turning Point, no you would not need a slider and you should keep your A16 locked in the forward position. With an extended pin box like the Turning Point you could have gone with a fixed hitch like the outstanding B&W Companion # BWRVK3300.

I have added a link to a video review of the wedge for you to check out.
