Question:
Hello. I have a trailer that weighs about 9,000 pounds loaded and wanting to install a weight distribution hitch with sway but i'm getting confused on how to choose the right one. Can you please help? Thank you! Ford F-150 2018

For your 9,000 pound trailer I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66130.
When picking out a weight distribution system the most important factor to consider is your total tongue weight. This number includes both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your F-150. Ideally this number will fall somewhere near the middle of the operating range for the system you choose.
Using a tongue weight scale like # e99044 is the most accurate method for determining your trailer's loaded tongue weight but we can make a pretty good estimate based on the 9,000-pound total loaded weight that you mentioned. A trailer's tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight, which means you are looking at a loaded tongue weight of around 900 to 1,350 pounds.
The Reese Strait-Line # RP66130 that I mentioned above features a tongue weight capacity of 800 to 1,500 pounds, matching your range perfectly. The Strait-Line series in particular is considered by many to be the best on the market because of its dual-cam sway control that actually works to stop trailer sway before it even begins. The system will also do a great job of evenly distributing weight to create a more level ride both for your F-150 and the trailer.
You just need to add the adjustable shank # RP54970 and a compatible hitch ball like the 2 inch # A-90 or the 2-5/16 inch # C40030.
I have attached a short video demonstration on the Reese Strait-Line that you can also check out.
