The Kuat Pivot Swing Away Hitch Extender part # PVP20B is designed specially to be used with the Kuat NV 2.0, NV Base 2.0, and Sherpa 2.0 bike racks. However, I don't see any reason that you could not use the swing hitch extender with a hitch mounted spare tire holder like the Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier part # C31006 so long as the weight of the spare tire holder and the weight of your spare tire/wheel do not exceed 250 lbs even on rough terrain. The weight of your spare tire holder and spare wheel/tire can also not exceed more than 50% of the vehicle's tongue weight or trailer hitch's tongue weight capacity.

The Kuat website says the Pivot 2 can’t be used on any “recreational vehicle”. Do you know why? I have a class B Travato van with a 2” hitch on the back.

The Kuat Pivot 2 is not designed for RVs because of the extra movement that it would get on the back. There are racks that are designed to be able to withstand the sway from an RV and they are going to have a very ridged construction with not as many moving parts. The Thule Access Swing Away Hitch # PVP20B is RV rated and is a very easy to operate and is a great product. You can watch the video we have on our product page to see how it operates.

The distance from the bottom of the shank to the lowest point on the swing away is 2" which you can see from the attached photo.
