Recommended Base Plates and Components for 2018 Ford Edge Titanium with Adaptive Cruise Control

Question:

For your 2018 Ford Edge Titanium there is only one base plate kit confirmed to work with the Adaptive Cruise Control. It is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2667 which will then require the adapter # RM-031 which works on Sterling tow bars with serial numbers up to 16,500. If the serial number on your tow bar is 16,501 or above, then the adapter # RM-031-5 is the correct fit. For your tow bar wiring, I recommend the RoadMaster Sterling All Terrain Towing Combo Kit # RM-9284-2 along with the RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector - Vehicle End # RM-910030-7 and the charge line kit # RM-156-25. I also recommend using the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766. This vehicle requires your battery be disconnected when flat towing and this is a really nice way to make that an easy task and still ensure your vehicle battery is charged and ready to go when you get to your destination. Then for the Brakemaster system, you will need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751475 and the seat adapter # RM-88317 for mounting to your vehicle. If you have the air system, I recommend the RoadMaster Second Vehicle Kit with BreakAway for BrakeMaster Systems # RM-98160 or just the RoadMaster BrakeAway Kit for BrakeMaster Systems # RM-8600. Finally you may need a high-low adapter for your vehicle. I've attached an article to assist with the measuring for correct fit and have linked the page to your options for ease of use.

The reason for the Blue Ox base plate over the Roadmaster EZ4 is that the Blue Ox option has been confirmed to work with your active cruise control where the Roadmaster has not. Because of that, you may have issues if you were to use the Roadmaster system, so my recommendation is to use the Blue Ox base plates we know will work and then use the adapters for your Sterling Tow Bar. The recommendation is purely based on function with the active cruise control system. etrailer does install Base Plates and the related wiring and components from our facility in Wentzville Missouri (St. Louis). We don't have anyone to refer you to in Virginia, but if you want to bring your vehicle to us, we do schedule installations.
