Recommended Weight Distribution Shank for 5-1/2 Drop
Question:
I have a 2018 Silverado that measures 21 1/2 inches at the hitch and 16 inches at the trailer using a Reese trunnion type weight distribution hitch what is the correct shank for this purpose.

Helpful Expert Reply:
If the 21-1/2" measurement that you took on your 2018 Chevy Silverado is from the ground to the top of the inside of the trailer hitch receiver and the 16" of your trailer is from the ground to the bottom of your coupler then that means you need a drop of 5-1/2".
The closest that we have to this measurement is the Reese # RP3215 which gives you a drop of 5-3/4" for a trunnion weight distribution (WD) system.
You may also be interested in the Curt WD Shank # C17121 because it can provide a drop of up to 7" and has more adjustment holes towards the top in case you ever tow a taller trailer.
