Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller # 39510 Not Detecting Trailer Connection
Question:
I have power to the controller, but the led light does not come on when my trailer is attached. So when I am towing I do not have any brakes to my trailer, so when I go to stop, I can feel my RV is pushing my truck. I would like to know what could be my problem?

There could be a few issues causing the problem you are having. First, you will want to check the brake controller. You will want to use a multimeter, like part # PT89ZR, to test the Black wire to make sure the controller is getting 12 volts of power and that there is power leaving the brake controller when the manual slide is applied. If there is not power leaving the brake controller, there is a chance the brake controller is bad and needs to be replaced.
Next, you will want to check the vehicle trailer connector to make sure you are getting signal. You will also want to check the connector for corrosion. If there is corrosion in the connector, this could be why the brake controller is not detecting when the trailer is attached and the connector will need to be replaced.
Next you will to check the trailer-side connection for corrosion. Again, if there is corrosion in the connector, it will need to be replaced. Then, continue by inspecting the trailer wiring for any frayed or cut wiring. Then, you will want to inspect the brake assemblies on the trailer to make sure each brake assembly has a good, clean ground.
I have linked a video review and instructions for the Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller, part # 39510.
