Recommended Flat Towing Setup for 2019 Jeep Wranger

Question:

We need a complete flat towing setup for our new 2019 Wrangler, factory bumper. We do still have our old dinghy towing items but they have seen a lot of use. I recently saw a really nice tow bar with lights that has me re-thinking the idea of using the old gear yet again.

To get your 2019 Wrangler ready for dinghy towing I suggest starting with the Roadmaster EZ5 base plate kit # RM-521453-5. I like this kit for its twist-lock draw bars that need no pins, its hidden brackets that keep the Jeep looking good and because it is USA-made.

The tow bar I like for your Jeep is the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676 which features extra-long non-binding stainless steel arms that make for easier hookup and which lock into place automatically. This lightweight aluminum tow bar also features built-in LED lights to alert other motorists to the presence of your Wrangler behind your motorhome and it includes the required safety cables and a wiring umbilical. Check out the linked photo and the review video to learn all about this tow bar's beneficial features.

For a braking system I recommend using a portable system that you can easily remove for regular driving, and also move to your next toad. I like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR for its simple setup and turn-key operation. You'll use 12V outlet kit # RM-9332 to power it and Brake Light Relay kit # RM-88400 to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn.

Finally you may need a high/low hitch adapter like # RM-076 to keep your connected tow bar level with the ground. This level setup ensures best performance from the tow bar. The linked article will help you select the right one.
