Tow Bar Lighting Recommendation for 2017 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Hate to say it, but I am confused on two fronts. I am looking at a Patriot 2 for my 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. My questions are as follows... 1 How do I wire/rewire so that the Running lights, tail lights, signal lights etc on my jeep are operated by my RV? What kits do I need to accomplish this. 2 As I understand things, I can power my BlueOx Patriot 2 from my Jeeps battery or add some additional wiring mohave this powered via the light connection to the RV...How do I accomplish this and what parts do I need. 3 Also..If i rewire the jeep to accomplish the above, do I need to disconnect the Jeeps battery when being towed?

For tow bar lighting for your 2017 Jeep Wrangler you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV where it plugs into the trailer connector of it. Once this connection is made the RV will control the vehicle taillights. I attached an install video link for this kit on a similar 2014 Wrangler for you to check out as well.
The Blue Ox Patriot III part # BLU37TR that you referenced does require you to plug it into a cigarette lighter style power plug. If your vehicle has to have the battery disconnected then you'd want the power plug adapter kit part # RM-9332 which wires directly to the battery so that when the vehicle is disconnected the port is still active.
