How To Dolly Tow a 2019 Buick Encore
Question:
So, Im considering going to one car from two and towing on a dolly a 2019 Buick Encore. The Encore is a push button start WITHOUT a steering column lock. In other words, the steering can be turned when the vehicle is off. If one tows with a tow dolly that turns articulated then you can no allow the steering to turn. What do you have that will secure the steering on a car without a steering column lock? I called RMI to verify that specifically on the RM3477 the steering must be locked or secured. Suggestions would be appreciated.

For starters, your 2019 Buick Encore can only be dolly towed if it is front wheel drive. The all wheel drive models must be towed on a trailer will all four wheels off the ground. With that being said, the owner's manual for the vehicle is going to have the final say so when it comes to the correct dolly towing procedures. I was not able to access the owner's manual for a 2019 Buick Encore but I was able to for a 2018 Buick Encore which should be the same. These procedures are as follows:
1. Put the front wheels on a dolly.
2. Move the shift lever to P (Park).
3. Set the parking brake.
4. Clamp the steering wheel in a straight-ahead position with a clamping device designed for towing.
5. Turn the vehicle off.
6. Secure the vehicle to the dolly.
7. Release the parking brake
Therefore, the vehicle's steering wheel must be locked with an aftermarket steering wheel lock like the Club # WI3100. Please note that the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes part # RM-2050-1 (RM3477) that you referenced has a maximum wheel size of 16".
