Can Curt 2-1/2-Inch Shank C17128 Be Used with Fastway Weight Distribution FA92-00-1000

Question:

i have a 2017 ram 2500 with a 2 1/2inch receiver. i pull a 25ft tt, 850# tongue, 10,000#gvwr never loaded to that. i want to use the FA92-00-1000 wd trunnion but it only comes with a 2inch shank. i want to sub a curt C17128 2 1/2inch receiver shank to eliminate the need for the adapter to 2 1/2. i am trying to get a quote on this from etrailer but no luck, sales says it cant be done. the fastway is selling for $339 with 2inch shank and the 2 1/2inch curt goes for $123. why wont this work?

You can use a different brand of shank with a weight distribution system. Fortunately these parts are standardized for hole size and hole spacing which allows them to be swapped out when necessary. We cannot swap out components in the Fastway kit but you can certainly purchase and use the alternate shank.

The Curt 2-1/2-inch shank # C17132 can be used with the Fastway weight distribution system # FA92-00-1000 if you want to avoid using a hitch reducer sleeve like # C45405.
