There are a number of different trailer vent styles that come down to hinge fit. I tried to look up your order history to see what cover you purchased, but there wasn't a cover connected to an order from the email address you asked the question from. It is definitely not normal for a lid to only last 3 years without other factors outside of UV rays and all the covers we carry have UV protection so I'm sure we can find something that will work better for you.

I believe the Replacement Dome for Fan-Tastic Vent RV Roof Vents - Tinted # FVK1020-19 has better protection than others and the MaxxAir UniMaxx Universal Replacement Lid for RV and Trailer Roof Vent - Translucent Smoke # MA00-335002 even comes with a 6 year warranty.

For your white cover with metal hinge replacement, I recommend the Vent Cover for Ventline Old Style Rounded Dome Trailer Roof Vents - White # BV0554-01. This is the most popular option with great reviews from our customers. If you have the different style crank, you can use the Replacement Lid for Ventline and Elixir RV Roof Vents - Polypropylene - White # CAM40155. Both of these covers will have UV protection integrated in the molded material.
