Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen
Question:
I have a 2010 VW SportWagen TDI. It can haul a 1000 pound trailer with 200 pound tongue weight. I will be using the trailer to haul a light 12foot boat and trip supplies not exceeding the recommended weights.I will not be required to install trailer brakes because the unit will not be 3,500 #s or more. What do you recommend

For your 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
# 306-X7284. This trailer hitch is a custom fit and is currently the only option we have for your vehicle TDI version of your SportWagen. The # C11474 is not a fit for your TDI version.
For a wiring harness, I recommend the part # C59496 because we have found this brand to be the most reliable with wiring products. It will however require hardwiring but there are no custom fit options for you.
For a ball mount and hitch ball, I recommend the etrailer 2-3/4" Rise or 4" Drop Ball Mount Kit - 7,500 lbs
Item # EBMK4.
I have attached several install and review videos on the above products for you as well.
