Determining Electric Trailer Brake Connection to Travel Trailer
Question:
Are electric brakes on my Keystone Passport 2009, automatically enacted when hooked up to towing vehicle?

When you connect your 2009 Keystone Passport to your towing vehicle, if you have a brake controller connected to your 7-way, then there will be a slight draw on the brake output wire letting the controller know the trailer is connected. Depending on your controller, there will be some indication that the trailer is connected.
The slight draw on the brake output wire will activate the brake controller so it will function within your determined settings. To test the connection, I recommend going to your trailer wheels and listening as you have someone hit the manual override on your brake controller. You will hear a slight click as you hear the brake magnet engage.
If you don't have a brake controller yet, I've linked the page to all your options. If you'd like a recommendation for your specific vehicle let me know.
