Turn Signal Fuse Blows and Headlights Dim with Turn Signals On

Question:

2003 dodge durango, have not pulled the trailer in awhile but suddenly the 30 amp fuse for turn signals burned out. Left turn is fine Rt turn signal works bot head lights dim everytime the turn signal light flashes. Could this be caused by ashort in the trailer light converter? How would I be able to test it to be sure?

Generally speaking, when a trailer light fuse blows when the trailer is plugged in that is because of a short in that circuit. However, when a light becomes dim while another light is on that is a sign of a bad ground. Therefore, I believe you have a few issues on your trailer that will need to be looked into. If you have access to a different tow vehicle then you can determine which side the fault is on, trailer or vehicle.

If not then you really just need to start tracing wires and checking grounds. This doesn't sound like an issue with a faulty converter box but the issue is also not something that is very common so again, you really need to just start tracing wires and checking grounds. This will need to be done on both the trailer and vehicle wiring.

Please remove each ground, sand the surface and then use some new mounting hardware to reattach. I would also pay special attention to inside the trailer connectors for bent pins or corrosion.
