Recommended Weight Distribution System Shank for Lifted Truck Compatibility
Question:
Can a weight distribution hitch shank be swapped out in one of your packages? I was looking at hitch package PS49904 but would need a longer shank like the C17122 or C17121. I currently have a pro series hitch I bought from you about 2 years ago. I use this one for my motorhome. I was going to buy a new head same as I currently own and shank with a 6 to 8 inch drop to use with my Lifted 2005 Silverado 2500HD. The head and a shank cost almost as much as the package does so even if it was a few dollars more by swapping shank would be worth buying the complete package if this was possible. Best regards

We do not offer a swap of shanks in our weight distribution systems, but we do offer different shank sizes separately. The Pro Series Weight Distribution System - Round - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW # 49570 is a very nicely priced system which you can add # 83660 to for sway control, so I do understand the draw if we were able to simply swap the shank for a better price.
I recommend using the Curt Weight Distribution Shank - 12" Long - 7-1/2" or 7" Drop - 1,500 lbs TW # C17121 or # C17124 for the correct fit. Then you can use your current hitch head or the Replacement Weight Distribution Bolt-Together Round Bar Head # PS58442 if you need the second weight distribution head. If you don't need that second head for compatible bars, you can instead use the Replacement Head for Curt MV Weight Distribution Systems # C17075 to function like a ball mount or the basic Ball Mount Adapter for Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Weight Distribution Shank # BA-1.
