Hopkins Backup Sensor System Sending False Alarms on a Ford E-250 Van
Question:
I am getting a random false indication when the unit is mounted on the rear door inset tag location on my E250 Ford Van. When I remove the unit and let it hang free it operates properly. Is it possible the sensors are being affected by the depth of the mounting location. I have tried adjusting the angles with no improvement.

I think you are exactly right. The depth of the mounting location is somehow affecting the sensors on the Hopkins Backup Sensor System, # HM60100VA. There are a couple of things you can do. First, you can try mounting the unit upside down with the sensors on the bottom. The drawback is that if the rear bumper sticks out further, it will block some of the range of the sensors.
You can also introduce some sort of spacer between the back of the unit and where it mounts. This may require longer hardware. The idea is that it will get the sensors out far enough so that whatever is interfering with them is no longer in the sensor range.
