How to Find Replacement Drum Brake Assembly for Boat Trailer

Hi Kyle, thanks for getting back to me. I have more information on my 2002 Escort trailer. Inside drum dimensions are 12" diameter and 2 3/8" deep. 5 bolt mounting flange Not sure of the axle weight capacity, but drum is 6 lugs. The trailer gvwr is 4695, unladen weight 950. Single axle. It has a Titan model 60 actuator. Thanks

I can tell you exactly how to find compatible drum brake assemblies, though I took a look and could not find any type of reference to Dico 40511.

To determine the brake assemblies that will fit your 2002 Escort boat trailer, you need to know your axle's weight capacity, your mounting flange bolt pattern and the inside diameter and depth of your drum.

For example, Hydraulic Brake Kit # AKFBBRK-35-D are rated for 3,500 lb axles, have a 4-bolt mounting flange pattern and measure 10" diameter x 2-1/4" wide. These are free-backing brakes which allow you to back up without engaging the brakes.

I've added a link to our selection of drum brake assemblies for you as well as a help article on what you will need in order to add drum brakes, though if you get back to me with the aforementioned information I would be able to recommend the best option for your trailer.

Thanks for the additional info. We do have hydraulic drum brakes that will fit your drums, the Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit - Free Backing # AKFBBRK-7 which are 12" diameter x 2" wide with a 5 bolt mounting flange pattern. It is important to note that these brakes - as with all the brakes that fit 12" drums - are rated for axles that have a capacity between 5,200 lbs and 7,000 lbs so you will have more braking power than needed when your trailer is empty. You will need Mounting Bolts and Hardware for 12" Brake Assemblies # BRKH12 as well as Brake Adjustment Spoon for Drum Brakes # W80630 as well.
