Running Light Blinks with Turn Signal and No Left Turn/Stop Light

Question:

Put in a new 7 blade plug and lights come on, but no left blinker, right blinker comes on only it also causes the running lamps to blink. Not sure whats going on .

It sounds like you may have the left turn/brake light signal wire and the running light wire mixed up or they are shorting out into one another somewhere along the trailer. I have attached a photo for you below which shows how a standard 7-way trailer connector should be wired. You will need to make sure the vehicle and trailer side both match but unless the vehicle side trailer connector was rewired at some point it should match this chart.

If you have checked the locations of the wires/pins inside the trailer side trailer connector then the next step would be to trace both the left turn/brake light wire (usually yellow) and the running light wire (usually brown) back from the trailer connector to each lighting assembly and check for shorts. Once you reached the end of the wire where it ties into the light you also need to make sure you have the wires attached properly i.e. (left turn/stop to left turn/stop and running light to running light). In order to do this you will need to test the light first with a 12 volt battery.
