How to Power Trailer Interior Light When Trailer isn't Connected
Question:
I just picked up a new car mate 6x14 cargo/garage trailer with finished inside. Trailer has 2-12v led dome lights that only work when my 7 pin is plugged into truck. There is a switch by side door to turn them off and on. I would like to run these lights without having the truck hooked up. Can you tell me what I need to make this work. More trailer specs. Breakaway switch with battery. Diamond plate tongue to mount battery in waterproof box. Outside 110 male plug to power one outlet inside.

You are going to need to install an auxiliary battery in your trailer to run the lights to so that you can power them when a vehicle isn't connected. Basically you'd run the 12 volt accessory wire from the trailer wiring connector you currently have that goes to the lights to the new battery and then run the wire for the lights to the battery and you'd have a way to power the lights at all times. For wiring I'd then recommend the 10 gauge wire part # 10-1-1 we offer which is sold by the foot.
