Recommended Toad Towing System for 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL

Question:

Hi I’m looking to tow my 2018jl wrangler behind my 3017 vista 29ve. I already have the blue ox base plate for JL Wrangler. Can you list the rest of the parts needed. Thinking roadmaster invisibrakes and blue ox aloha tow bar. Can you make sure it’s compatible with vehicles and What other wiring do i need. Thank you.

Since you already have the Blue Ox baseplates # BX1139, I recommend using the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380 which comes with the safety cables you need as well as the hitch pin. If you desire more security I also would add the Blue Ox Base-Plate and Receiver Lock Kit - Qty 4 # BX88177 which will give you the hitch pins for your motorhome hitch as well as a high-low adapter and then the pins for your base plate connections.

Then for your tow bar wiring I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will give you the connection to your motorhome and also the connector for your Jeep. It will use diodes to utilize the factory wiring for a clean look while still protecting your vehicle electronics. You will also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751490 and I recommend adding the charge line kit # RM-156-25 to maintain your Jeep battery while towing.

For your supplemental braking system, the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 is a great choice. It is an easy to use system that becomes plug and play after the initial installation.

You will also need the high-low adapter I mentioned and I've linked an article as well as the page with all your options for the best fit between your Winnebago Vista motorhome and your Jeep. You may also want to consider some nice extras like the tow bar cover # BX8875 and Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4750 to prevent damage from road debris.
