Recommended Electric Winch for 7,000 Pound Boat Trailer

Question:

Yes, I have a 1987 Sea Ray cruiser, weighs empty 6,000 lbs, with gas and gear add another 1,0000 lbs, total 7,000 lbs loading on to a Loadrite trailer with rollers so, what model electric winch would you suggest to handle a load of this scale ? thanks for your help

In general if your trailer is equipped with rollers and you don't have too long of a winching distance, a winch rated for 1/3 of the boat weight can be used (3:1 ratio) without issue.

With this in mind I recommend looking at the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch # DL25215 for your boat that will weigh around 7,000 pounds fully loaded. This is an excellent electric winch that can handle up to a 9,000 pound boat when used with the rollers on your trailer. It has a Load/Unload power switch and a freewheel clutch for easier operation and its weather-resistant case with stainless steel front plate will provide rust resistance. The polyester strap and snap hook are included. This will work great for your boat and Load Rite Trailer

I have attached a short video demonstration on this winch that you can also check out.
