Recommended Weight Distribution System and Hitch Receiver for 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited My jeep manual states it has a maximum Trailer Tongue Weight of 350 lbs. I have a trailer I want to pull that has a max tongue weight of 460 lbs. Can I pull this trailer? All other weight numbers are in the acceptable weight range as stated in my manual. Does a weight distribution solve this issue?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # DT78MR is rated independent of the vehicle. The tongue weight of 675 lbs without or 675 lbs when using weight distribution is rated beyond your vehicle capacity.
When using weight distribution with this hitch, you will be able to pull your trailer, but I don't recommend doing so without a weight distribution system. I recommend using the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0600 which is rated for 250-600 lbs total tongue weight. I recommend using the hitch ball # EQ91-00-6080 or # EQ91-00-6100 with this system and using # ALL643216 for that ball installation.
I've attached an article to assist.
