Will Two 12V Batteries be Enough to Power the 3000W Go Power Inverter # 34275013 for a Short Time

Question:

Will 2 12volt batteries be adequate to power the 12 volt 3000 watt inverter for short periods of use? When using the Go Power auto transfer switch will the switching be done automatically between inverter power, shore power, and generator power? Can all supplies required for installation of the inverter and transfer switch be ordered from etrailer rather than buy the installation kit from Go Power? Thanks

You can use two 12V batteries to power the Go Power Inverter # 34275013 but that all depends on what size 12V batteries you plan on using what "short periods of use" means. I reached out to my contact at Go Power and he said that if you are using deep cycle batteries and the load is not too excessive then you should be fine.

For example, if you were trying to pull the full 3000 Watts out of the inverter that would be about 25 Amps AC or 250 Amps DC. If you were to run this for a half hour you would pull about 125 Amp Hours out of the battery. This would kill the battery bank very quickly. Two 12V batteries would probably only have a capacity of 200 Amp Hours. So you can see the size of the battery bank is more dependent on what you want to run (the load) and how long you want to run this item.

Since this inverter has a transfer switch built in you will just need one Go Power Transfer Switch # 34264403. This switch will automatically switch between the shore and generator power. The switch inside the Go Power Inverter # 34275013 will then automatically switch over to the battery bank when AC shore/generator power is removed from the equation.

We do carry the Installation Kit # 342GPDCKIT5 (which includes the wires) for connecting the inverter to your battery bank. The included remote of the # 34275013 lets you control and monitor your inverter from inside your RV.

Attached are the instructions for the Go Power Inverter which are very detailed and extremely helpful.
