Troubleshooting Output Circuit of Brake Controller Hot all the Time 2018 Honda Ridgeline AWD RTL-T

Question:

I installed a Tekonsha P3 controller using a 3070-P wiring harness. I keep a “No Trailer Connected” message when I activate the manual arm or when I go to setup. During troubleshooting I discovered that I am getting 12v power thru the black “power” wire and the blue “e-brake output” wire. The blue wire is output from the brake controller. Tekonsha tech said I have a wiring problem on my new Honda, Honda Service dept at my dealer says the truck wiring is fine! Any suggestions?

Tekonsha would be correct. But what I would first do is try disconnecting the brake controller and then checking to see if the blue wire has voltage all the time still. If so then it's definitely the wiring of the vehicle. Also test the brake output circuit of your 7-way which is the 5:00 pin to see if there is voltage there all the time too. If instead you find that the blue wire only has voltage when the controller is connected the problem is the controller and it should be replaced.
