Aftermarket Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2019 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
It seems that this part is the one E trailer has sold for previous years of the Cherokee, and has been adopted for 2019. My concerns are these: 1-Dealer catalogs do not list a wiring harness for 2019 Cherokees, so I am wondering how Etrailer decided to use the one for previous years. 2-I have heard that post-installation of a trailer harness, the Cherokee computer has to be programmed to recognize and use it properly. Nothing on this in your lit that I have found yet. Pretty confusing for non-techs like me. Can you provide any info on these things? Thanks

For your 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56406 is a confirmed fit and will work for you. This is a brand new wiring harness that was developed specifically for the 2019 model year and that is all it will fit. This is not an OEM harness like something you would find in a dealer catalog as it is an aftermarket part that is supplied and test fit by third party manufacturers such as Tekonsha.
In regards to the activation of the tow package wiring, that will only be needed for wiring harnesses that plug into a tow package port. This harness plugs in behind the tail light housings therefore no additional programming will be required with this harness.
Once you receive the harness you will have to remove the tail lights, plug the connectors in, run the wire to the battery for power, and that is it. The install instructions have been attached for you.
