Distance Between Bearings for Trailer Hub on an Old Snowmobile Trailer

Question:

This snowmobile trailer is very old and rusted with an E-Z lube torsion type axle. I bought a hub locally for this 5-4.5 -10inch wheel size. It was not for an E-Z lube axle. My mistake My question is: The E-Z lube distance between bearings appears to be a little longer than the standardinch hub i purchased. I want to MAKE SURE i am picking the right hubs at your store before ordering. Are all E-Z lube designed axles have the flat on the threaded section of the spindle and are that +/- 1/8inch longer????? E-Z Lube axle Hub with L44649 bearings: 1.06 OD shaft / Part #8-259-5UC1-EZ Thank you,

The only difference between a trailer hub designed for any E-Z lube spindle and a trailer hub designed for a standard spindle is that the E-Z lube spindle will have a grease cap with a removable insert to allow for access to the grease fitting. The distance between the two bearings will be the same which is about 2-1/4" for modern spindles. There are E-Z lube spindles that use a d-ring washer and there are E-Z lube spindles that use a cotter pin, it's really just up to the discretion of the manufacturer.

If you have a distance greater than 2-1/4" between your bearings then the trailer most likely takes a specific trailer hub which we would not have. Therefore, we have two options which are to just rebuild the hubs using the bearing kit part # BK1-150 or replace the axle with a system like part # A20RS545.

I have attached a list of the replacement axle options for as well.
