Recommended Winch for a 3,500 lb Boat with Carpeted Bunk Boards

Question:

I have a 23foot ft boat that weighs approx 3,500 - 4,000 lbs. w/ Carpet covered bunks. Is this sufficient ? Or Can I use a 2,000 lb winch ?

I spoke to the manufacturer Jif Marine, they informed me that the 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap part # 315-W2500D would not be sufficient for a 3,500 - 4,000 lb boat even with bunk boards. The bunk boards are certainly going to help but wont do as much as a set of rollers will like part # DL21741 in regards to reducing the size of winch needed to pull the boat in.

Instead, I recommend taking a look at the 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap part # 315-W3200D which has a 3,200 lb weight capacity and will be much better suited for your setup. It has the same 2-speed operation as the 2,500 lb version. I have attached a review video for you as well.
