Recommended Roof Vent for Above Shower in Converted Sprinter RV

Question:

I have a 2012 Sprinter that we’ve converted into an RV. We need a roof venting solution. I like the round Ventline fan but it says not to use it above showers. Is there an alternative?

We do indeed have a nice selection of roof vents that will work great above the shower of your converted Sprinter RV. Because the vent will sit above the shower you need a unit that doesn't have/use power. Roof vents that use electricity for operation like the Ventline Vanair # VP-543SP that you referenced simply aren't designed to resist the water that would filter through for this type of application.

Because of this I recommend taking a look at the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent # V2092SP-28 instead. This vent uses a manual hand crank to open and close the vent and fits a rough opening size of 14-1/4 inches x 14-1/4 inches. The lid's translucent cover will still allow light through and its galvanized steel flange won't rust or corrode over time.

I have attached a sample installation video for the vent that you might also find helpful.

For an option that features a fan we have the Ultra-Fab Solar-Powered Plumbing Vent # UF53-945001. This is a solar powered unit so it doesn't use any wiring for proper operation, making it compatible for above-shower use. It is a bit smaller than the above mentioned product at 7 inches in diameter and it will only be able to function during daylight hours.
