How to Safely Tow a 2019 Jayco 3,750 GVWR Trailer with a 2006 Toyota Trundra
Question:
I have a 2006 Tundra with a 7000 lb tow rating, 700 lb hitch rating. We will be pulling a 2019 Jayco trailer 7 ft wide with a 3750 GVWR and a dry hitch weight of 350. What would your recommendation be to tow safely?

Since your Tundra is rated to tow your trailer the only thing I really recommend going with, if you already have a hitch like part # 13184 and wiring like part # C59236 or # 20137, is a weight distribution (WD) system. This will not only level your towing setup but it will also improve the handling of your trailer if you choose a system with integrated sway control.
The best WD system for any towing setup will have a tongue weight (TW) range that the total tongue weight (TTW) of your towing setup falls in the middle of. To find your TTW you simply add the loaded TW of your 2019 Jayco with the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2006 Toyota Tundra.
A properly loaded trailer should have a TW that is 10-15% of the weight of the loaded trailer so if your GVWR (max weight) of your trailer is 3,750 this means that your loaded trailer TW should be 375 lbs - 562 lbs. You can use the TW scale # e99044 to ensure that you properly load your trailer every time.
One of the most popular WD systems that we have for your TW range is the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET which has a TW range of 200 lbs - 600 lbs, has an integrated 4-point sway control, and comes with a 2" hitch ball. The only other thing you would need is a thin-walled socket like part # EQ70-00-4800 to assist in the installation of the hitch ball.
If you find that the TW of your loaded Jayco sits closer to the 562 lb mark that I mentioned earlier and you are wanting to carry some equipment in the back of your Tundra then I recommend going with the Reese Strait-Line # RP66083 instead. This is another great option that has received excellent reviews from our customers. It has a TW range of 400 lbs - 800 lbs and comes with anti-sway cams to fight trailer sway before it starts. This unit doesn't come with a hitch ball so you would need part # A-90 or # 19286 for a 2" or 2-5/16" hitch ball respectively.
