Tow Bar Lighting and Braking Solution for Flat Towing 2013 Honda CR-V

Question:

I have read just about everything on the website, but I am still a bit confused on which Tail Light wiring system to purchase. I will be wiring my 2013 Honda CRV to be towed behind a RV with a 7 pin connector. The lights on the RV are such that the brake lights and turn signal lights are the same whereas, on the CRV they are separate. I am gong with the Blu Ox Base Plate and Alfa Tow Bar, and Blue Ox Patriot II Portable Braking System. I also want to put a trickle charger on the CRV Battery powered from the RV 7 pin connector. Which wiring system is best for this application and does it require installing the Brake Light Relay Kit part # RM-88400? The Honda CRVs brake lights do illuminate with the engine off. Thank you for your assistance.

For towbar lighting for your 2013 Honda CR-V you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV. This can be easily used on vehicles that have separate or combined trailer wiring like what you have. In either configuration it operates the stoplights as a combined lighting setup without issue.

You will need the brake light relay kit part # RM-88400 with the Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR as well.
