Video Transcript for Rhino Rack Roof Rack Review - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
Today in our 2013 Hyundai Sonata, we're going to be test fitting the Rhino Roof Rack system, consisting of part numbers RRVA126B-2, these are Rhino Rack's Vortex Arrow crossbars in black. They also come in silver, part number RRVA126S-2. We also have part number RRRLKVA, and these are the 2500 series legs for the Vortex crossbars. We also have part number DK250, and this is the fit kit for this specific vehicle with the clamps that go around your roof. We already have the front one installed. As you can see, with the bar here, it has a nice aerodynamic shape to it, which is going to cut down wind noise and drag while you're driving. Combined with the other bar, it has a carrying capacity of 165 pounds, although you want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure it can withstand that much weight. We already have the front one installed, so let's go ahead and show you how the rear one installs.
We already have it partially assembled on our table, here. We'll start by taking our series leg, here, and taking this bracket, we'll put it inside the T-slot at the end of the bar. Just make sure you line it up properly, and then we'll take a measurement from this point to our leg. Normally, you would have a strip that you would cut into place, place it in, and set it up that way, but for demonstration purposes, we'll just do a quick measurement. With that, we'll take our included tightening tool and tighten down the screw in the center here.
That will snug it against the bar. All right. Now we'll take our end-cap, place it on, and take the included tool with that, and lock it into place as well. Now we'll take our rubber pad here for the bottom. Install it, and make sure the arrow here is facing towards the front, as it is with our other foot, or leg. Excuse me.
Now we'll take our clamp. Unscrew this here. Install our clamp and just tighten it up just enough to hold it in place. All right. Next we'll go ahead and open up our rear doors and put our bar into place. Next, we'll go ahead and take our measurement for our crossbar spread, which is going to be from center to center.
Just double check with your instructions, and it'll give you the proper measurements. You got your handy-dandy measuring tape. Now repeat this process for the other side as well. All right. Now we can actually start tightening them down. We're going to get them snug at first on both sides, and then finish up. Push it up against here like so, just take our tightening tool, turn to the right to tighten it up. Once you get these snug on both sides, we're going to go back and forth and tighten them down evenly about five or six turns each, until they're completely tightened down. Now some things you can put on this roof rack, there's a lot of options. There's going to be bike racks, ski and snowboard carriers, water-sport carriers. When they're completely tightened down, this curved edge will actually straighten out like you see there. It means you're ready to go. Our final step is going to be putting on our locking covers, so your roof rack will actually stay secure on your roof and prevent theft and tampering of your items. Excuse me. Prevent theft and tampering of your actual roof rack. There you have it for the Rhino Rack Roof Rack system on our 2013 Hyundai Sonata.

The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.

Good quality and locks are included. The plastic lock covers are flimsy but they will keep an honest person honest.

Nissan Versa
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.

Two items I received surprised me when I unpacked the box were the rails because they were not black like I saw in the picture, and the rubber insert that I am having a hard time sliding in the rail. Should this rubber insert have come already installed in the rail or is there a top on how to put in with ease?

Great build quality and fairly easy to install. One snag was the measurement on the insert for the bottom of the rail shouldn't be used to determine required spacing.

2015 Nissan Rogue
This is an excellent product. It was the only product that would fit my truck. I was able to mount it by myself, it took me longer than I thought it would, but it helps if you watch first a video on line about how to put it together. The support staff is excellent if you miss any parts. I highly recommend it for the 2015 Nissan Rogue.

2017 Ford F-150
This rack worked out great... I installed in on a 2017 Ford F-150. We drove 6 hrs through wind and rain with a SUP and Tandem Kayak on top. It really took a beating in a storm the whole way. One bracket was a little loose and shifted because of the wind on the Kayak, but it held together. Super happy with Rhino rack!

Dodge Ram Pickup

Comes with locks and 2 keys which is nice… some of the parts feel a little plastic-y and cheap (not any parts that have an important function). Thus the 4 instead of 5 star rating.
