Availability of Repair Kit for Atwood Landing Gear on a 2002 Sunnybrook 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have an Atwood model MPD 71125 landing gear that I believe has worn bushings on the bevel gear shaft of one leg. How do you tell if its a standard duty or heavy duty version without disassembling it? It is driven by one electric motor and its on a 2002 Sunnybrook 27 foot 5th wheel trailer.

I tried looking up the differences between standard duty and heavy duty Atwood landing gear so that I could recommend a repair kit but I wasn't able to find anything. Since Atwood is no longer in the landing gear business it is basically impossible (unfortunately) to determine if any of our repair kits will work. The part number that you gave me actually is a document that shows the various parts for Atwood landing gear, but nobody has information as to what those replacement parts are the equivalent of.

Because of this I recommend replacing the landing gear on your 2002 Sunnybrook 5th wheel trailer. This gives you some peace of mind that you won't have to replace any parts in the near future but also when it does come to repairs that you can find replacement parts much easier.

For a replacement I recommend the etrailer.com Landing Gear # RVLG-8HDL which can be activated by the motor # LC142178. As long as you have 15-1/2" between the weld stops on your current Atwood landing gear then you won't have to do any welding to install this replacement kit!
