Parts Needed to Add a 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector on a Van

Question:

I have tested the power at the van connector, but the blue wire, reverse, has no power. It is a factory 4-pin install, but the loom has 7 wires. The blue was supposed to be reverse. Does it need to be connected somewhere else? I am trying to change the plug from 4 pin to a 5 pin.

If the van has a 4-Way flat trailer connector then the only functions carried by the connector are left turn/brake light, right turn/brake light, running lights, and ground. In order to get reverse, you will need to install Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter, # 20036. The extra blue wire pictured will attach to a reverse light wire behind one of the tail lights.

Or, since you have said your van has a 7 wire loom, a reverse light circuit may be found there. Use a circuit tester like # 3808 if needed to find the reverse light wire. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation of this adapter for you.
