Recommended Rhino Rack Bed Rail Tracks for 2016 Ford F-150

Question:

I am planning to mount tracks on my 2016 F150 bedralis. Could you post a pic of the extrusion profile of the Yakima, Thule, and rhino products. I want to understand the track shape and width at the base to understand how it will sit on the plastic rail caps which are countoured. Also, Is there one brand or the other which will be the easiest to remove the towers when not in use?

There is a system that is far easier to remove than others. I recommend the Rhino-Rack system # Y02-500B. These legs will allow you to remove the locking cover and then simply pinch the internal triggers to help you remove or reinstall the crossbars and towers to the bases on your rails.

The tracks are 2 inches wide and 1/2 inch tall. Then the legs which have the integrated base will add another 3 inches and the bars an additional 1-1/2 inches tall. So you are looking at adding 5 inches to the height of your bed rails.

I also recommend adding the metal cores to your bars # RRVA-LEC4 to keep any channel mounted accessories secure.

The Thule and Yakima options are really made for Roof Tracks but can be used for the bed rails as well. They will consist of more parts and generally be a higher cost. Depending on the towers and rails used, they will be slightly higher at about 6 inches off the bed rails. With any of the options, the rounded rail caps get removed and the towers sit into the structurally rigid groove.
